Ingredients
- 1 Kg Haruka Sushi Rice, 1Kg
- 110G Kyurizuke Pickled Cucumber, 110G
- 4 Pack Fresh Carrots - Pack Of 4
- 17G Clearspring Sushi Nori 7 Sheets
- 280G The Tofoo Co Naked Organic Extra Firm Tofu
- 200 Ml Sushi Vinegar, 200Ml
- 43G Saitaku Wasabi Paste
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the Tilda Pure Basmati Rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
- 2. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, allow it to cool to room temperature. Note: While basmati rice is used here, sushi rice is traditionally preferred for authentic sushi.
- 3. Prepare the vegetables: Peel and julienne the Fresh Carrots into thin strips. Drain the Kyurizuke Pickled Cucumber and cut into thin slices if necessary.
- 4. Lay one sheet of Clearspring Sushi Nori on a clean, flat surface or a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down.
- 5. Spread a thin, even layer of the cooled basmati rice over the nori sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space at the top edge.
- 6. Arrange the julienned carrots and slices of Kyurizuke Pickled Cucumber horizontally across the center of the rice layer.
- 7. (Optional) If using additional fillings like avocado, ensure you use a real avocado instead of the Jellycat Amuseable Avocado, which is a plush toy and not edible.
- 8. Carefully roll the nori sheet from the bottom edge, using the bamboo mat to help create a tight roll. Seal the roll by moistening the top edge of the nori with a little water.
- 9. Repeat the process with the remaining nori sheets, rice, and fillings.
- 10. Once all rolls are prepared, use a sharp knife to slice them into bite-sized pieces. Clean the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices.
- 11. Arrange the sushi pieces on a serving platter and enjoy your homemade sushi!
