Ingredients
- 470 G Dabur Organic Ghee
- 200G East End Desiccated Coconut
- 450G Heera Jaggery Unrefined 450g
- NaN Trs Rice Flour
- - Whole Foods Market Organic Cardamom Powder
- 750 G Top-Op Table Salt Drums
Instructions
- 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 450g of rice flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add warm water and knead the mixture into a smooth, pliable dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set aside.
- 2. Grate the jaggery into fine shavings. In a pan over low heat, melt the grated jaggery with 1-2 tablespoons of water to form a syrup. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
- 3. Once the jaggery syrup is ready, add 2-3 tablespoons of desiccated coconut and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the pan. Mix well to create the filling. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 4. Divide the rice flour dough into small, equal portions and roll each portion into a ball. Flatten each ball into a small disc using your hands or a rolling pin.
- 5. Place a spoonful of the jaggery-coconut-cardamom filling in the center of each disc. Carefully fold the edges of the disc upwards and pinch them together to form a modak shape. Repeat for all portions.
- 6. Grease a steamer plate with a small amount of ghee to prevent sticking. Place the prepared modaks on the plate, ensuring they do not touch each other.
- 7. Steam the modaks for 10-12 minutes on medium heat until the outer layer becomes translucent and cooked through.
- 8. Once steamed, brush the modaks lightly with ghee for added flavor and shine. Serve warm as a delicious treat.
