A delicious and crispy green pea tikki made without root vegetables, perfect for a Jain-friendly dinner. Serve with mint chutney for a refreshing touch.
Ingredients
- 100 G Fresh Green Peas 100g
- 500 G Brown & Polson Cornflour
- 450G Rice Flour, 450G
- 12.5 Kg Top-Op Cooking Salt 12.5kg
- - Ktc Vegetable Oil
- - Rajah Jeera Whole Cumin Seeds
- - Chilli Powder Rajah
Instructions
- 1. In a mixing bowl, combine 25 g cornflour, 25 g rice flour, and 25 g salt with a small amount of water and mix well to form a smooth dough.
- 2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds. Allow them to crackle.
- 3. Add 100 g green peas, 1/2 tsp chilli powder to the pan. Stir to combine and cook for 3-4 minutes until the peas are tender and aromatic. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
- 4. Divide the dough into lemon-sized portions. Flatten each portion into a small disc.
- 5. Place a small amount of the green pea filling in the center of each disc. Fold the edges over the filling and shape into round patties.
- 6. Heat a tawa over medium heat and add 2 tbsp oil. Shallow fry the patties on both sides until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 7. Serve the warm tikkis with mint chutney for a delightful dinner.
