- 2.27L / 4 Pints British Whole Milk 2.27L / 4 Pints
- - Lurpak Unsalted Butter
- 1.5 Kg Best In Plain Flour 1.5 Kg
- - Tata Salt
- 100G Trs Whole Black Pepper 100G
Instructions
- 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook until al dente according to the package instructions, usually 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 2. In a medium saucepan, melt 50g of butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 2-3 minutes to create a smooth roux.
- 3. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue to cook and whisk for 5-6 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- 4. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated cheddar cheese, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
- 5. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce in a large bowl, ensuring every piece of pasta is coated.
- 6. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) or 400°F. Transfer the mac and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish.
- 7. In a small frying pan, melt the remaining 25g of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and breadcrumbs. Stir for 3-4 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- 8. Sprinkle the garlic crumb mixture evenly over the mac and cheese. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crispy.
- 9. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
