Ingredients

  • 500 G Purima Raw Shelled Nuts
  • 1 Unit Galbani Mozzarella Ball 125g
  • 95 Ml Dr. Oetker Large Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Kg Green Skinless Pistachios, 1Kg
  • 270G Jus-Rol Frozen Filo Pastry Sheets
  • 165G Philadelphia Original Soft Cream Cheese
  • 200G Anchor Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Kg White Granulated Sugar
  • 300 Ml Rose Water, 300Ml

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. 2. Prepare the sugar syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup (200g) of white granulated sugar with 1/2 cup (120ml) of water and a few drops of lemon juice. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Let it simmer gently for 5-7 minutes, ensuring it does not caramelize. Remove from heat and stir in 1-2 teaspoons of rose water and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Set the syrup aside to cool.
  3. 3. Melt 200g of butter in a small saucepan. Separate the filo pastry sheets and brush each sheet generously with the melted butter to ensure they are well coated.
  4. 4. Grease a baking tray with some of the melted butter and layer half of the buttered filo pastry sheets evenly to cover the bottom of the tray.
  5. 5. Prepare the cheese filling: In a mixing bowl, combine 250g of cream cheese, 125g of grated mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 cup (125ml) of cream. Mix until smooth and creamy. Spread this cheese mixture evenly over the filo pastry layer in the tray.
  6. 6. Cover the cheese filling with the remaining buttered filo pastry sheets, layering them evenly and pressing down gently to form a firm top layer.
  7. 7. Bake the Kunafa in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  8. 8. Once baked, remove the Kunafa from the oven and immediately pour the cooled sugar syrup evenly over the hot Kunafa, ensuring it soaks through.
  9. 9. Garnish the Kunafa with chopped nuts (e.g., pistachios) for a traditional finish.
  10. 10. Allow the Kunafa to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Kunafa!
