Instructions
- 1. Cook 225 g of diced bacon in a 6-quart pan over medium heat until browned and crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving 1 to 2 tablespoons of fat in the pan.
- 2. Add 1.1 kg of ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- 3. Stir in 2 cups of finely chopped onion, 1 cup of diced green pepper, and 6 minced garlic cloves. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.
- 4. Add 2.7 kg of peeled and chopped tomatoes, 510 g of tomato paste, 1 cup of red wine, 2 tablespoons of salt, 1 bay leaf, and 1/2 cup of chopped fresh parsley and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning. Stir well to combine.
- 5. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors are well blended. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
- 6. Serve the sauce over cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
