Ingredients
- 1 Kg Jersey Royal Potatoes
- 50G Pepper Black Ground BWFO
- 300G Young'S Chip Shop Xl Beer Battered Fish Fillets
- 1 L Crisp N Dry Oil
- 1.5 Kg Best In Plain Flour 1.5 Kg
- - Tata Salt
Instructions
- 1. Wash and peel the Jersey Royal Potatoes. Cut them into thick chip shapes for traditional fish and chips.
- 2. In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of Best in Plain Flour with a pinch of Tata Salt and a sprinkle of Pepper Black Ground BWFO. This mixture will be used to lightly coat the chips before frying.
- 3. Toss the cut potatoes in the flour mixture to coat them evenly. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4. Heat Crisp N Dry Oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 180°C (350°F). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the chips. Exercise caution when handling hot oil to avoid burns.
- 5. Carefully add the coated potatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with a little more Tata Salt while they are still hot.
- 6. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or the temperature specified on the packaging of the Young's Chip Shop XL Beer Battered Fish Fillets.
- 7. Place the Young's Chip Shop XL Beer Battered Fish Fillets on a baking tray and cook in the preheated oven according to the instructions on the packaging. This will ensure the fish is crispy and cooked through.
- 8. While the fish fillets are cooking, ensure all chips are fried and ready to serve. Keep them warm by placing them in a low-temperature oven if needed.
- 9. Once the fish fillets are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes while you finish plating the chips.
- 10. Plate the cooked fish fillets and crispy chips together. Serve immediately with your choice of condiments, such as tartar sauce, vinegar, or ketchup.
