Ingredients

  • - Ginger - 100g
  • 1 Piece Cucumber 1Pc
  • 1 Kg Carrots - 1kg
  • - Emma Basic Dried Seaweed Sushi Nori
  • 120 Ml Lee Kee Seasoned Rice Vinegar 120ml
  • 1 Kg Haruka Sushi Rice, 1Kg
  • 1 Kg Trade Aid Caster Sugar 1kg
  • - Yutaka Wasabi Paste

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the lettuce, carrots, cucumber, and ginger thoroughly. Peel the carrots and ginger, and cut the carrots and cucumber into thin julienne strips. Set aside.
  2. 2. Prepare the sushi rice by rinsing it under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  3. 3. While the rice is cooking, prepare the sushi seasoning. In a small saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons of seasoned rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of caster sugar, and 1 teaspoon of table salt. Heat gently until the sugar and salt dissolve, then let it cool.
  4. 4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the prepared sushi seasoning. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  5. 5. Lay a sheet of dried seaweed sushi nori shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned sushi rice over the nori, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space at the top edge.
  6. 6. Arrange the julienned carrots, cucumber, and a few leaves of lettuce horizontally across the center of the rice. Optionally, add a small amount of wasabi paste for extra flavor.
  7. 7. Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat, applying gentle pressure to form a firm roll. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
  8. 8. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make additional rolls.
  9. 9. Slice the rolls into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices.
  10. 10. Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce for dipping, thinly sliced ginger as a palate cleanser, and additional wasabi paste on the side if desired.
  11. 11. For presentation, you may use a decorative centerpiece on the serving platter (note: this is a non-edible item).
