- 400G Khanum Seedless Tamarind Pulp, 400G
- 1 Kg Dried Figs, 1Kg
- 70G Natco Ground Cumin, 70G
- - Billington'S Light Brown Soft Sugar
- 100 G Rajah Garam Masala
- - Mccormick Cumin Powder
- - McCormick Gourmet Organic Cayenne Pepper MCG-24431
Instructions
- 1. In a large pot, combine 2 cups of chopped dates, 1/4 cup of tamarind pulp, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, 1/2 teaspoon of asafetida, 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 4 cups of water.
- 2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar and blend the spices.
- 3. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the dates are soft and the flavors are well combined.
- 4. Remove the pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- 5. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any solids, pressing down with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Alternatively, puree the mixture in a blender and then strain it for a smoother texture.
- 6. Transfer the strained chutney to a serving bowl or airtight container. Serve as a dip or accompaniment with your favorite Jain-friendly dishes.
