Instructions

  1. 1. Cut the Rohu fish fillet into medium-sized pieces and set aside in a bowl.
  2. 2. Mix yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt to make a marinade.
  3. 3. Coat the fish pieces thoroughly with the marinade and let them rest for 20 minutes.
  4. 4. Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  5. 5. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan and toast the cumin seeds until aromatic.
  6. 6. Add the soaked rice to the pan and stir gently, then pour 300 ml of water and bring it to a boil.
  7. 7. Lower the heat, cover the pan, and let the rice cook until all the water is absorbed, about 12 minutes.
  8. 8. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in a separate pan and add the marinated fish pieces.
  9. 9. Cook the fish on medium heat for 5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. 10. Serve the cumin rice on a plate, topped with the spiced fish tikka.
  11. 11. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves before serving.
