Instructions

  1. 1. In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, ground cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create a spice rub.
  2. 2. Pat the steak dry, rub the spice mixture evenly onto both sides, and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.
  3. 3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and green chili, cooking for 5-7 minutes until softened and slightly charred. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4. In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil over high heat. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time based on your preferred doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  5. 5. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable. If using lettuce, prepare the leaves for serving.
  6. 6. Assemble the tacos by placing steak slices and sautéed peppers onto each tortilla. Squeeze lime juice over the filling for added brightness.
  7. 7. Serve immediately with optional lettuce for added crunch or additional chili for extra spice.
