Ingredients
- 1 Kg Yellow/White Onion 1kg
- 200G All Things Butter Unsalted Butter
- 50G Pepper Black Ground BWFO
- 1 Piece White Baguette French Baguette
- - The Cheese Lady Gruyère Reserve Classic Swiss Mountain Cheese
- 60G Mill & Mortar Organic Salt Of Hearts, 60G
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add 2 thinly sliced sweet onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- 3. While the onions are cooking, lightly butter one side of each of the 4 slices of baguette.
- 4. Place the baguette slices, buttered side down, on a baking sheet. Toast them in the preheated oven for 5 minutes or until lightly golden.
- 5. Remove the baguette from the oven. Divide the caramelized onions evenly between two slices of toasted baguette, placing them on the unbuttered side.
- 6. Top each pile of onions with 2 slices of cheese. Return the bread to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 7. Place the remaining slices of toasted baguette on top of the cheese, buttered side up, to form sandwiches.
- 8. Serve the sandwiches warm and enjoy your savory sweet onion melt.
