Instructions
- 1. In a large nonstick skillet, cook 250 g fresh mushrooms (sliced) and 1 diced onion over medium heat until the onion is softened and the mushrooms are lightly browned. Drain any excess liquid.
- 2. Transfer the cooked mixture to a 3-quart slow cooker. Add 2 diced tomatoes, 1 can (170 g) tomato paste, 1 can (400 g) tomato sauce, and 240 ml vegetable broth.
- 3. Stir in 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon herbes de provence, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- 4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- 5. Alternatively, for stovetop preparation, bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- 6. Serve the sauce hot over your favorite pasta or as a topping for other dishes.
