- 1. Heat a large frypan over medium heat and brown 900 g of lean ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- 2. Transfer the cooked ground beef to a crock-pot. Add 1 cup of finely chopped onion, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of italian seasoning, 2 tablespoons of basil, and 1 cup of sliced mushrooms.
- 3. Stir the mixture thoroughly with a fork until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- 4. Add 1 can (400 g) of tomato sauce, 1 can (400 g) of tomato puree, 1 can (170 g) of passata, and 1 large diced tomato to the crock-pot. Mix everything together until well blended.
- 5. Cover the crock-pot and cook on the low setting for 12 to 15 hours, or on the high setting for 4 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 6. Once the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot over your favorite pasta or use as a base for other dishes.
