Instructions

  1. 1. Lay four pieces of aluminum foil on a flat surface, reserving four additional pieces for later use.
  2. 2. In the center of each foil piece, dice one potato and one carrot, and slice one mushroom.
  3. 3. Crumble one-fourth of the ground beef over the vegetables in each packet.
  4. 4. Slice or mince one-quarter of the onion and sprinkle it over the beef in each packet.
  5. 5. Press one clove of garlic over the onion layer in each packet.
  6. 6. Add half a teaspoon of beef base to each packet for a rich flavor.
  7. 7. Cut one tablespoon of butter into small pieces and distribute evenly over each packet.
  8. 8. Season each packet with salt, pepper, and your choice of herbs such as Greenfields Mixed Herbs.
  9. 9. Bring the ends of the foil to the center and fold them together twice to seal the top. Fold and roll up one end tightly.
  10. 10. Lift each packet gently and shake to compress the contents slightly.
  11. 11. Add 2 tablespoons of water to the open end of each packet, then carefully fold and roll up the open end to seal completely.
  12. 12. Place each sealed packet in the center of a second sheet of foil and wrap again to prevent leaks.
  13. 13. Cook the packets over indirect heat on a grill or campfire for about 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  14. 14. Carefully open the packets, as the steam inside will be very hot.
  15. 15. Serve directly from the foil or transfer the contents to a plate for serving.
