About this recipe
A light and crispy fry bread perfect for dinner, made without root vegetables or animal products to suit Jain dietary preferences. Enjoy it plain, with a drizzle of honey, or as a base for creative toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 Kg Caputo Cuor Di Cerali, 1Kg
- 113G Royal Baking Powder Tin, 113G
- 100G Halen Mon Umami Sea Salt, 100G
- - Ktc Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- 2. Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft, non-sticky dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- 3. Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a ball. Flatten each ball and stretch it gently to form a thin disc.
- 4. Heat enough cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches frying temperature.
- 5. Carefully poke a small hole in the center of each dough disc and gently place it into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on one side, then flip and fry the other side until evenly browned.
- 6. Remove the fry bread from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 7. Serve the fry bread hot. It pairs well with a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or as a base for savory toppings.
