Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of quinoa flour, 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs, and 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds. Mix well to form the dry base for the burger patties.
- 3. Finely grate 1 medium carrot and add it to the bowl. Then, finely chop 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic. Sauté the onion and garlic in 1 tablespoon of cooking oil until softened, then add them to the mixture.
- 4. Add 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1 teaspoon of paprika powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the bowl. Mix thoroughly to incorporate the spices.
- 5. Add 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce to the mixture for flavor and binding. Stir until the mixture is cohesive and holds together when pressed.
- 6. Shape the mixture into burger patties, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Place the patties on the prepared baking tray.
- 7. Bake the patties in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and firm.
- 8. While the patties are baking, prepare the burger buns. Slice the brioche burger buns in half and lightly toast them in a dry pan or oven.
- 9. Wash and dry the romaine lettuce leaves. Tear them into pieces suitable for layering in the burger.
- 10. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, followed by a quinoa patty. Optionally, garnish with freshly chopped coriander for added flavor.
- 11. Spread a small amount of hoisin sauce on the top half of the bun and place it over the patty to complete the burger.
- 12. Serve the quinoa burgers warm and enjoy!
