Ingredients

  • - Emma Basic Dried Seaweed Sushi Nori
  • 160 Ml Cj Bibigo Sesame Oil
  • 450 G English Cucumber 450-550g
  • NaN Tilda Long Grain Rice

Instructions

  1. Prepare all your ingredients: cook the rice according to package instructions, then season it with sesame oil and a pinch of salt. Julienne the cucumber and any other desired fillings into thin strips. If using pickled carrots, drain any excess liquid and prepare it for use.
  2. Place a sheet of dried seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat (makisu) with the rough side facing up.
  3. Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking, then spread a thin, even layer of the seasoned rice over the seaweed, leaving about 1 inch of seaweed at the top edge uncovered.
  4. Arrange your desired fillings (e.g., julienned cucumber, prepared pickled carrots, and other ingredients) in a horizontal line across the center of the rice.
  5. Using the bamboo mat, roll the kimbap tightly, starting from the bottom edge. Use gentle but firm pressure to shape the roll as you go.
  6. Use a sharp knife to slice the kimbap into bite-sized pieces, wiping the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to ensure clean slices.
  7. Optionally, drizzle a small amount of sesame oil over the kimbap slices for added flavor. Avoid sprinkling desiccated coconut, as it is not traditional for kimbap and may confuse readers.
  8. Serve the kimbap as is, without dipping sauces, as traditionally kimbap is enjoyed on its own. If desired, you may offer soy sauce on the side as an optional condiment.
