Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel and finely chop the carrots, onions, and garlic. Dice the green peppers.
  3. Heat a large pan over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onions, garlic, and green peppers until softened and fragrant.
  4. Add the diced carrots to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce and ketchup. Season with ground pepper, ground nutmeg, and black salt to taste. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes to develop the flavors.
  6. While the sauce simmers, prepare the ricotta mixture. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with a pinch of ground nutmeg and set aside.
  7. Wash and roughly chop the spinach. Lightly sauté the spinach in a separate pan with a small amount of olive oil until wilted. Set aside.
  8. Slice the ham into small pieces and set aside.
  9. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce mixture at the bottom. Place a layer of lasagne pasta sheets on top.
  10. Add a layer of the ricotta mixture, followed by a layer of sautéed spinach, a sprinkle of mushrooms, and a few pieces of ham.
  11. Repeat the layering process: tomato sauce, lasagne sheets, ricotta mixture, spinach, mushrooms, and ham, until all ingredients are used up. Ensure the top layer is tomato sauce.
  12. Finish by sprinkling mozzarella evenly over the top layer.
  13. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  14. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbling.
  15. Let the lasagne cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious lasagne!
