Ingredients

  • 470 G Dabur Organic Ghee
  • 200G East End Desiccated Coconut
  • 450G Heera Jaggery Unrefined 450g
  • NaN Trs Rice Flour
  • - Whole Foods Market Organic Cardamom Powder
  • 750 G Top-Op Table Salt Drums

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 450g of rice flour with a pinch of salt. Gradually add warm water and knead the mixture into a smooth, pliable dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set aside.
  2. 2. Grate the jaggery into fine shavings. In a pan over low heat, melt the grated jaggery with 1-2 tablespoons of water to form a syrup. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
  3. 3. Once the jaggery syrup is ready, add 2-3 tablespoons of desiccated coconut and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder to the pan. Mix well to create the filling. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. 4. Divide the rice flour dough into small, equal portions and roll each portion into a ball. Flatten each ball into a small disc using your hands or a rolling pin.
  5. 5. Place a spoonful of the jaggery-coconut-cardamom filling in the center of each disc. Carefully fold the edges of the disc upwards and pinch them together to form a modak shape. Repeat for all portions.
  6. 6. Grease a steamer plate with a small amount of ghee to prevent sticking. Place the prepared modaks on the plate, ensuring they do not touch each other.
  7. 7. Steam the modaks for 10-12 minutes on medium heat until the outer layer becomes translucent and cooked through.
  8. 8. Once steamed, brush the modaks lightly with ghee for added flavor and shine. Serve warm as a delicious treat.
