Ingredients
- 500 G Fresh Vine Tomato 500g
- 1 Kg Red Onion 1kg
- 120G Alpenzu Clarified Butter, 120G
- 100G Natco Asafoetida, 100G
- 15G Fresh Curry Leaves - Approx 15G
- 500G East End Chick Peas
- 100G East End Cumin Whole Seeds
- 1 Kg Natco Mung Dal (Moong Dal) Yellow, 1Kg
- NaN Trs Lentils Red (Masoor Dall)
- NaN Tilda Long Grain Rice
- 100 G Rajah Garam Masala
- - Chilli Powder Rajah
- 100 G Saras Turmeric Haldi Powder
- 400 G Trs Coriander Powder
- 750 G Top-Op Table Salt Drums
- 190G Natco Garlic & Ginger Paste, 190G
Instructions
- 1. Soak 1/4 cup each of chick peas, black dhal with black lentils & coconut cream, moong dal, dried chickpeas, and black dhal with black lentils & coconut cream in water for 1 hour. Drain and rinse thoroughly.
- 2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dals, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 3 cups of water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles until the dals are soft and well-cooked.
- 3. Heat 2 tbsp clarified butter in a pan. Add 1/2 tsp cumin whole seeds and let them splutter. Add 1 finely chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- 4. Add 1 tsp garlic & ginger paste and sauté for 1 minute. Add 1 finely chopped tomato and cook until soft and mushy.
- 5. Add 1/2 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp ground coriander, 1/4 tsp garam masala, and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
- 6. Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Adjust the consistency by adding water if needed. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- 7. Add 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and 1 tbsp coconut milk (optional). Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- 8. Serve hot with steamed rice or roti, garnished with a drizzle of clarified butter and a sprinkle of chopped coriander.
