- 100G Borwicks Bicarbonate Of Soda, 100G

- 50G Terre Exotique Madagascan Cinnamon Powder, 50G
- 50G Top-Op Nutmeg Powder 50g
- 70G Mill & Mortar Citrus Salt Flakes, 70G
- 113G Royal Baking Powder Tin, 113G
- - Silver Spoon Icing Sugar
Instructions
- 1. Combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup raisins, and 1 cup water in a large pan.
- 2. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow it to cool.
- 3. Once cooled, stir in 1/3 cup oil.
- 4. In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon baking soda with 1 tablespoon warm water, then add this to the cooled mixture.
- 5. In a separate bowl, sift together 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon clove, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. Add 1/4 cup chopped nuts to the dry mixture.
- 6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a wooden spoon, mixing until just combined.
- 7. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan and spread it evenly.
- 8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 9. Allow the spiced squares to cool completely, then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
