Ingredients
- 2.27L / 4 Pints British Whole Milk 2.27L / 4 Pints
- 200 G Authentic Greek Yogurt
- 470 G Dabur Organic Ghee
- 227G Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, 227G
- 1 Lemon - 1 Each
- - Nestle Nido Milk Powder
- 1 Kg White Granulated Sugar
- - Natco Cardamom Powder
- 1.5 Kg Best In Plain Flour 1.5 Kg
- 300 Ml Rose Water, 300Ml
- 1G Saffron 1g
Instructions
- 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of Nestle Nido Milk Powder, 2 tablespoons of Best in Plain Flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of food-grade baking soda. Mix well to ensure the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
- 2. Add 1/4 teaspoon of Natco Cardamom Powder to the dry mixture for flavor. Stir to incorporate.
- 3. Gradually add 2 tablespoons of Authentic Greek Yogurt and 1 tablespoon of British Whole Milk to the dry mixture. Knead gently to form a soft dough. Avoid over-kneading as it can make the dough dense.
- 4. Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into smooth, round balls. Ensure there are no cracks on the surface to prevent them from breaking during frying.
- 5. Heat Dabur Organic Ghee in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the ghee is hot, reduce the heat to low and carefully fry the dough balls until they turn golden brown. Remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess ghee.
- 6. In a separate saucepan, prepare the sugar syrup by combining 2 cups of White Granulated Sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of Natco Cardamom Powder for flavor. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the syrup thickens slightly. Do not add milk to the sugar syrup, as it is unconventional for Gulab Jamun preparation.
- 7. Once the syrup is ready, gently add the fried dough balls into the warm syrup. Allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes to absorb the syrup and become soft and flavorful.
- 8. Serve the Gulab Jamun warm or chilled, garnished with additional Natco Cardamom Powder if desired.
