Ingredients

  • 1 L Crisp N Dry Oil
  • 1 Kg Jersey Royal Potatoes
  • 750 G Top-Op Table Salt Drums
  • 200G Arla Lactofree Mature Cheddar Cheese
  • 26G Schwartz Classic Gravy

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the Jersey Royal potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch. Optionally, soak them in cold water for 30 minutes for extra crispiness. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with a clean towel to prevent oil splatter during frying.
  2. 2. Heat cooking oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil reaches the correct temperature for consistent frying results.
  3. 3. While the oil is heating, prepare the gravy. Heat the gravy in a saucepan over medium heat until it is hot and simmering. If the gravy is too thick, thin it with a small amount of water or broth, adding gradually until the desired consistency is achieved. Keep the gravy warm on low heat until ready to assemble.
  4. 4. Once the oil has reached the correct temperature, fry the potatoes in batches. Avoid overcrowding the fryer to ensure even cooking. Fry each batch for about 5-6 minutes, or until the fries are golden and crispy.
  5. 5. Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. While the fries are still warm, season them generously with table salt.
  6. 6. Assemble the poutine by placing a generous portion of fries on a serving plate. Scatter the Arla Lactofree Mature Cheddar Cheese evenly over the fries.
  7. 7. Pour the hot gravy over the cheese and fries. The heat from the gravy will slightly melt the cheese, creating a gooey and delicious texture.
  8. 8. Serve the poutine immediately while hot and enjoy this comforting and indulgent dish!
