Ingredients
- 500 Grms Bajra Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
- 500 g Onion
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 250 g French Beans
- 200 ml Ghee
- 250 g Carrot
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- - Coriander Powder
- - Green Peas
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the foxtail millet and moong dal thoroughly under running water and soak them in water for 20 minutes.
- 2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle until aromatic.
- 3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown. Then, add the chopped tomato and cook until soft and mushy.
- 4. Mix in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red chili powder, and sauté for another minute to release the spices' aroma.
- 5. Add the diced carrot, chopped green beans, and green peas. Stir well to combine with the spices.
- 6. Drain the soaked millet and dal, and add them to the cooker. Stir for 2-3 minutes to coat them with the spice mixture.
- 7. Add enough water to the cooker (approximately 3 cups) and season with salt. Mix well and bring it to a boil.
- 8. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on medium heat for 3-4 whistles, then turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
- 9. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and gently fluff the khichdi with a spoon. Adjust the consistency by adding a little hot water if needed.
- 10. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with yogurt or pickle on the side.
