Ingredients
- 500 Grms Bajra Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
- - Coconut Oil
- 50 g Asafoetida Powder
- 250 g French Beans
- - Frozen Peas
- - Grated Coconut
- 500 g Capsicum Green
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- 50G Green Chilies
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the foxtail millet thoroughly under running water and set it aside to drain.
- 2. Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add mustard seeds. Once they start spluttering, add cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, and green chilies. Sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- 3. Add the chopped vegetables (green beans, capsicum, tomatoes, and peas) to the pan. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- 4. Mix in the turmeric powder and salt, then add the rinsed millet. Stir to combine, ensuring the millet is evenly coated with the spices and vegetables.
- 5. Add 2 cups of water to the pan and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid, and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the millet is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- 6. Turn off the heat and let the upma sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff it gently with a fork to separate the grains.
- 7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut (if using) before serving. Serve hot as a wholesome breakfast.
