Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 250g Green Chilli
- loose Ginger
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 1 bunch Spring Onion
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Drain the soaked moong dal and blend it into a smooth batter using minimal water for a thick consistency.
- 2. Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix in turmeric powder, cumin seeds, green chili, grated ginger, chopped coriander leaves, chopped onion, red chili powder, and salt.
- 3. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
- 4. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it into a thin, round pancake using the back of the ladle.
- 5. Cook the chilla on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to lift, then flip it and cook the other side for another 2 minutes until golden and crisp.
- 6. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed between chillas.
- 7. Serve the turmeric spiced moong dal chillas hot with mint chutney or plain yogurt for a balanced breakfast.
