- 200 ml Sesame Oil
- 500 g Onion
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 100 g Salt
- - Frozen Peas
- - Grated Coconut
- 100 g Tamarind Paste
- 250 ml Olive Oil
- - Rice Flour
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- - Coriander Powder
- 100 g Curry Leaves
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
Instructions
- 1. Combine rice flour, salt, and hot water in a bowl to form a smooth dough. Add sesame oil and knead lightly. Use an idiyappam press to shape noodles onto idli plates and steam for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked.
- 2. Heat cooking oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and chopped green chili, sautéing for 1 minute.
- 3. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Mix in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder, cooking for another minute.
- 4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft, stirring occasionally. Stir in tamarind pulp and grated coconut, cooking for 2-3 minutes to blend flavors.
- 5. Mix in boiled peas and adjust salt to taste. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped coriander leaves.
- 6. Serve the steamed idiyappam topped with the prepared masala, ensuring even distribution for every serving.
