Ingredients

  • 1 Kg Idly/Dosa Batter
  • 100 g Tamarind Paste
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • - Grated Coconut
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the idlis by pouring the idli batter into greased idli molds and steaming them for 10-12 minutes until cooked. Remove and let them cool slightly.
  2. 2. Heat a pan on medium heat and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  3. 3. Add asafoetida, chopped green chilies, curry leaves, and turmeric powder to the pan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
  4. 4. Stir in the tamarind pulp and salt, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. 5. Gently toss the steamed idlis in the prepared tamarind and curry leaf mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  6. 6. Optional: Garnish with grated coconut for added flavor and texture. Serve warm.
