Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 500 g Onion
  • 300 g Ginger Paste
  • - Chaat Masala
  • 250 ml Lemon Juice Concentrate
  • - Besan
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 50G Green Chilies
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Salt
  • 1 liter Sunflower Oil
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 3-4 hours or overnight, then drain it completely.
  2. 2. Grind the soaked moong dal into a coarse paste without adding water, ensuring a thick texture.
  3. 3. In a mixing bowl, combine the moong dal paste with chopped onion, green chilies, coriander, cumin seeds, ginger paste, turmeric powder, chaat masala, lime juice, gram flour, and salt. Mix well until evenly combined.
  4. 4. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into small, flat tikkis.
  5. 5. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, place the tikkis in the pan and shallow fry them in batches, cooking each side for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. 6. Remove the tikkis from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  7. 7. Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt for a tangy and refreshing breakfast.
