  • 100 g Red Chili Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the red lentils thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear, then soak them for 20 minutes.
  2. 2. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Then add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until aromatic.
  4. 4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts to separate, about 7-8 minutes.

  6. 6. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pan. Pour in the vegetable stock and bring the mixture to a boil.
  7. 7. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the lentils simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and fully cooked.
  8. 8. Stir in garam masala and adjust salt to taste. Let it cook for another 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  9. 9. Turn off the heat, garnish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice. Serve hot.
