Ingredients

  • 100 g Garlic
  • 500 g Chicken Thigh Boneless
  • loose Ginger
  • 200 ml Sesame Oil
  • 1 pack Mushrooms Button
  • - Dry Yeast
  • 500 g Wheat Flour / Maida
  • 100 g Cornflour
  • 500 g Sugar

Instructions

  1. 1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 500g of wheat flour, 25g of dry yeast, 50g sugar, and 250ml warm water. Mix together, then knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  2. 2. Marinate the Chicken: Chop 500g of boneless chicken thighs into small pieces. In a bowl, mix the chicken with 2 tablespoons sesame oil, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Prepare the Vegetables: Finely chop the 1 pack of button mushrooms, and mix them with the marinated chicken.
  4. 4. Cook the Filling: Heat 2 tablespoons of soya bean oil in a pan. Cook the marinated chicken and mushroom mixture until the chicken is cooked through, and set aside to cool.
  5. 5. Prepare the Cornflour Mix: Dissolve 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in 4 tablespoons of water, and add it to the cooked filling to thicken.
  6. 6. Shape the Baozi: Punch down the risen dough, and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle, place some filling in the center, then pinch the dough together at the top to enclose the filling.
  7. 7. Steam the Baozi: Place the shaped baozi on parchment paper in a steamer, leaving some space in between. Steam them over medium heat for about 15 minutes until they are fully cooked.
  8. 8. Serve the Baozi: Remove the baozi from the steamer, and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
