- 200 ml Ghee
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 50 g Asafoetida Powder
- 250 g Carrot
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 50g Everest Garam Masala
- 250 g French Beans
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the basmati rice and yellow moong dal thoroughly and soak them for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 2. Heat ghee in a tawa or deep pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter, then add asafoetida.
- 3. Add the chopped onion and green chilies, and sauté until the onion becomes golden brown. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
- 4. Mix in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala, and sauté for a minute to release the spices' aroma.
- 5. Add the carrots, beans, and green peas, and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables slightly soften.
- 6. Add the soaked rice and dal, and mix everything to coat the grains with the spices and vegetables.
- 7. Pour in enough water (approximately 3 cups) and add salt to taste. Stir well, cover, and let it cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8. Once the rice and lentils are fully cooked and the mixture reaches a khichdi-like consistency, turn off the heat.
- 9. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with yogurt or pickle on the side for a complete breakfast.
