Ingredients

  • 100 g Oats Jumbo
  • 500 g Suji
  • - Low Fat Dahi (Pouch)
  • 500 g Onion
  • 250 g Carrot
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 200 ml Sesame Oil
  • 500 g Capsicum Green
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Dry roast the rolled oats in a pan on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden. Allow them to cool, then grind into a fine powder using a blender.
  2. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered oats, semolina, and low-fat yogurt. Add a pinch of salt and enough water to form a thick batter. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  3. 3. Prepare the vegetables by finely chopping the onion, tomato, green chili, bell pepper, and grating the carrot. Set them aside.
  4. 4. Heat a non-stick tawa or skillet on medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter. Stir in the curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
  5. 5. Mix the chopped vegetables, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and chopped coriander leaves into the batter. Adjust the consistency with a little water if needed, ensuring it's pourable but thick.
  6. 6. Grease the tawa with a thin layer of oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and gently spread it into a thick circle. Cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the edges crisp up and the bottom turns golden brown.
  7. 7. Flip the uttapam carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes. Repeat with the remaining batter to make more uttapams.
  8. 8. Serve the Spiced Tawa Oats and Veggie Uttapam hot with coconut chutney or sambar for a complete meal.
