Ingredients
- - Switz Filo Dough Sheets
- 140 g Mozzarella Cheese Shredded
- 200 g Cream Cheese
- 0.25 g Saffron
- Unsalted Sliced Pistachio (Unsalted) (100g)
- 500 g Sugar
- 100 g Unsalted Butter
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and grease a 9-inch round baking dish with melted butter.
- 2. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and a pinch of saffron strands. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 8 minutes until the syrup thickens slightly. Set aside to cool.
- 3. Melt the butter in a microwave or on the stove. In a large bowl, gently toss the shredded phyllo dough with the melted butter until evenly coated.
- 4. Divide the butter-coated phyllo dough into two equal portions. Spread one portion evenly across the greased baking dish to form the base layer.
- 5. In another bowl, mix shredded mozzarella and cream cheese until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the phyllo base.
- 6. Spread the remaining phyllo dough over the cheese layer, pressing gently to ensure an even top layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- 7. Once baked, immediately pour the cooled saffron syrup evenly over the kunafa. Let it soak for 5 minutes.
- 8. Garnish with chopped pistachios and serve warm. Enjoy this fusion dessert with your family!
