Ingredients

  • 500 g Rava
  • 200 ml Ghee
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Salt
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Cashew Regular
  • 250 g Carrot
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • - Green Peas
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast the semolina (rava) for 3-4 minutes until it is aromatic and slightly golden. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  2. 2. In the same pan, heat ghee. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and green chili. Sauté for 30 seconds.
  3. 3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the diced carrot and green peas, and cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften.
  4. 4. Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt into the pan, mixing well. Gradually pour in the hot water while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. 5. Slowly add the roasted semolina while stirring to ensure it combines evenly with the water and vegetables.
  6. 6. Cover the pan and let the upma cook on low heat for 3-4 minutes or until the semolina absorbs all the water and achieves a soft, fluffy texture.
