Ingredients

  • 1 Kg Idly/Dosa Batter
  • 500 g Onion
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • - Grated Coconut
  • 200 g Roasted Chana Dal
  • 100 g Tamarind Paste
  • 200 g Dahi
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them splutter. Add curry leaves, chopped onion, and green chili, and sauté until onions are translucent.
  2. 2. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add the boiled and mashed potatoes, mix well, and cook for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and set aside.
  3. 3. To prepare the coconut chutney, blend grated coconut, roasted chana dal, tamarind paste, yogurt, and a pinch of salt into a smooth paste. Set aside.
  4. 4. Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of dosa batter onto the center and spread it evenly in a circular motion to form a thin crepe.
  5. 5. Cook the dosa on medium heat until the edges turn golden and crisp. Place 2-3 tablespoons of the potato masala filling on one side of the dosa, fold it into a wrap, and remove from the skillet.
  6. 6. Repeat the process for the remaining dosa batter and potato filling. Serve the masala dosa wraps hot with the prepared coconut chutney on the side.
