Ingredients
- 1 kg Potato
- 500 Ml Champion Oil
- 200 g Table Salt
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized fries. Rinse the cut fries in a bowl of cold water or ice water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain the water and pat the fries completely dry with a clean towel to prevent oil splattering during frying.
- 2. Heat the Champion Oil in a deep fryer or a large, heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the oil temperature for accuracy.
- 3. Fry the potatoes in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 5-6 minutes per batch, or until the fries are golden and crispy. Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Immediately season with table salt while they are still hot.
- 4. While the fries are soaking in water (Step 1), prepare the gravy. Heat the gravy in a saucepan over medium heat until it is hot and simmering. If the gravy is too thick, thin it with a small amount of water or broth, adding a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- 5. Once the fries are cooked and seasoned, place a generous portion of fries on a serving plate. Scatter the cheese curds evenly over the hot fries.
- 6. Pour the hot gravy over the cheese curds and fries. The heat from the gravy will slightly melt the cheese curds, creating a gooey and delicious texture.
- 7. Serve the poutine immediately while it is hot, and enjoy this comforting and indulgent dish!
