Ingredients
- 500 g Moong Dal
- 200g Tata Sampann Premium Cashews Whole : 200 G
- 500 g Jaggery
- 200 ml Coconut Milk
- 100 Ml Govind Ghee
- - Green Cardamom Powder
- 100 g Raisins
Instructions
- 1. Wash 1/2 cup of moong dal (yellow lentils) thoroughly and drain. Heat a pan and dry roast the dal on medium heat until aromatic and lightly golden.
- 2. Transfer the roasted dal to a pressure cooker. Add 1 1/2 cups of water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles until the dal is soft and mushy.
- 3. In a separate pan, heat 1 tbsp of ghee. Add 2 tbsp of chopped cashews and 1 tbsp of raisins. Fry until golden and set aside.
- 4. In the same pan, add the cooked dal and mash it lightly. Stir in 1/2 cup of jaggery and cook on low heat until the jaggery dissolves completely and blends with the dal.
- 5. Add 1 cup of coconut milk and stir continuously to avoid curdling. Cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Add 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder and mix well.
- 6. Turn off the heat and garnish the payasam with the fried cashews and raisins. Serve warm or chilled.
