Ingredients

  • 500 Grms Bajra Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
  • 100G Oleo
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • - Green Peas
  • 100 g Lemon
  • 250 g French Beans
  • 500 g Capsicum Green
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 50G Green Chilies
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the foxtail millet thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. 2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, and chopped green chilies, letting them splutter for 30 seconds to release their aroma.
  3. 3. Add green beans, capsicum, and green peas to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften slightly.
  4. 4. Mix in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes break down and blend with the spices.
  5. 5. Add the drained millet to the pan and stir well to coat it with the spices and vegetables.
  6. 6. Pour enough water to cover the millet and vegetables, then bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until the millet is tender and the water is absorbed.
  7. 7. Turn off the heat, garnish with fresh coriander leaves, and squeeze lemon juice over the upma for added freshness.
  8. 8. Serve hot as a wholesome breakfast for the family, accompanied by chutney or yogurt if desired.
