Ingredients

  • 500 Grms Bajra Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
  • 500 g Onion
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 250 g Carrot
  • 200 ml Ghee
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Salt
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • - Green Peas
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the foxtail millet thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. Heat ghee or oil in a pan on medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, followed by cumin seeds and curry leaves.
  3. 3. Add the chopped onion and green chili to the pan. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  4. 4. Stir in the diced carrots, green peas, and mixed sprouts. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften slightly.
  5. 5. Add the chopped tomato, turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook until the tomatoes soften and the spices are fragrant.
  6. 6. Add the soaked millet to the pan, mix well, and pour in enough water to cover the millet (approximately 1.5 cups). Cover and cook on low heat for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the millet is cooked and fluffy.
  7. 7. Once the millet is cooked, garnish the upma with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Mix gently to combine.
  8. 8. Serve the Masala Sprout Millet Upma warm as a wholesome breakfast or brunch dish, accompanied by a side of yogurt or chutney if desired.
