Ingredients
- 100 g Oats Jumbo
- 250 ml Olive Oil
- 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
- 500 g Onion
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
- - Coriander Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 250 g Carrot
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 50g Everest Garam Masala
- - Green Peas
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
Instructions
- 1. Heat the olive oil or ghee in a medium-sized pan on medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds, and let them splutter for about 30 seconds.
- 2. Add the chopped green chili and onions to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- 3. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook for 4-5 minutes until they soften and the oil starts to separate.
- 4. Add the green peas and carrots, along with turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- 5. Add the rolled oats to the pan and stir to coat them with the spices and vegetables.
- 6. Gradually pour in 2 cups of water (or 1 cup of water and 1 cup of low-fat milk for creaminess), stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- 7. Reduce the heat to low and let the oats cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they reach a thick, porridge-like consistency.
- 8. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
- 9. Serve the masala oats hot, either on their own or with a side of yogurt for added tanginess.
