Ingredients

  • 100 g Oats Jumbo
  • 250 ml Olive Oil
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds
  • 500 g Onion
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • - Coriander Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 250 g Carrot
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • - Green Peas
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat the olive oil or ghee in a medium-sized pan on medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds, and let them splutter for about 30 seconds.
  2. 2. Add the chopped green chili and onions to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. 3. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook for 4-5 minutes until they soften and the oil starts to separate.
  4. 4. Add the green peas and carrots, along with turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. 5. Add the rolled oats to the pan and stir to coat them with the spices and vegetables.
  6. 6. Gradually pour in 2 cups of water (or 1 cup of water and 1 cup of low-fat milk for creaminess), stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  7. 7. Reduce the heat to low and let the oats cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they reach a thick, porridge-like consistency.
  8. 8. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  9. 9. Serve the masala oats hot, either on their own or with a side of yogurt for added tanginess.
