  • 250 G Green Mug Dal
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • loose Ginger
  • - Rice Flour
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • - Grated Coconut
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Drain the soaked green gram and blend it with green chili, ginger, cumin seeds, and a little water until smooth. Add rice flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and mix to form a thick batter.
  2. 2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the chopped tomato and cook until soft.
  3. 3. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and remaining salt into the onion-tomato mix. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the masala is fragrant, then add chopped coriander leaves. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. 4. Heat a tawa or non-stick pan over medium heat and grease lightly with oil. Pour a ladleful of the moong dal batter and spread it into a thin circle to form a crepe.
  5. 5. Cook the pesarattu for 2-3 minutes until golden brown on one side, then flip and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes. Repeat until all the batter is used.
  6. 6. Serve the crispy pesarattu topped with the prepared tawa masala and an optional garnish of grated coconut. Pair with coconut chutney or tamarind sauce for a complete meal.
