Ingredients

  • 1 kg Basmati Rice
  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • - Green Peas
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 500 g Onion
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 200 ml Ghee
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • - Coriander Powder
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the basmati rice and moong dal thoroughly and soak them together for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. Heat ghee in a deep pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida, then sauté until aromatic.
  3. 3. Add the sliced onion and cook until golden brown. Stir in the green chili, chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, and coriander powder, cooking until the tomatoes are softened.
  4. 4. Add the soaked rice and moong dal to the pan. Mix well and pour enough water to cover the ingredients by 2 inches.
  5. 5. Add green peas and salt, then bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the rice and dal are fully cooked and creamy.
  6. 6. Stir in garam masala and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves before serving.
