Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 500g Swad Roasted Rice Powder 500g
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 300 g Ginger Paste
- 200 ml Mustard Oil
- 50 g Asafoetida Powder
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 50g Everest Garam Masala
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Red Chili Powder
- 100 g Salt
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the yellow moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-6 hours or overnight. After soaking, drain the water and blend the dal into a smooth batter using minimal water.
- 2. Transfer the batter to a bowl and add rice flour, chopped coriander leaves, tomato, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, ginger paste, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well to combine into a thick, pourable batter.
- 3. Heat a tawa or non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it gently into a circular shape, about 6-7 inches wide.
- 4. Cook the chilla on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown. Flip it carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes, adding a few drops of oil around the edges.
- 5. Remove the cooked chilla from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining batter. Serve the chillas hot with mint chutney, coriander chutney, or a side of yogurt.
