Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
  • 500g Swad Roasted Rice Powder 500g
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 300 g Ginger Paste
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 50g Everest Garam Masala
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. Rinse the yellow moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-6 hours or overnight. After soaking, drain the water and blend the dal into a smooth batter using minimal water.
  2. 2. Transfer the batter to a bowl and add rice flour, chopped coriander leaves, tomato, green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, ginger paste, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well to combine into a thick, pourable batter.
  3. 3. Heat a tawa or non-stick pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it gently into a circular shape, about 6-7 inches wide.
  4. 4. Cook the chilla on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown. Flip it carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes, adding a few drops of oil around the edges.
  5. 5. Remove the cooked chilla from the tawa and repeat the process with the remaining batter. Serve the chillas hot with mint chutney, coriander chutney, or a side of yogurt.
