About this recipe
A golden, buttery-toasted sourdough sandwich filled with thin ribbons of savory ham and melted, nutty Swiss cheese (Emmental). The "secret" is the interior spread—a mix of Dijon mustard and light jam (apricot or fig)—which creates a sweet-and-savory profile that cuts through the richness of the cheese.
Ingredients
- 100 g Unsalted Butter
- - Ham
- 400 g Bread - Sandwich
- - Rocket Arugula 100g
- - Appenzeller Cheese
- 370 g Dijon Mustard Paste
- 100 g Apricot Tukda
Instructions
- 1. Mix the Dijon and jam. Spread a thin layer on the inside of both bread slices.
- 2. Place one slice of cheese, the ham, and then the second slice of cheese.
- 3. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Lightly butter the outside of the bread. Place in the pan and press down slightly with a spatula.
- 4. Once golden (about 3–4 minutes), flip and repeat.
- 5. Slice diagonally. The cheese should be "stretchy" but not oily.
