Ingredients

  • 400 g Curd
  • 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
  • 500 g Capsicum Green
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 1 box Baking Soda
  • 200 ml Mustard Oil
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 500 g Rava
  • 100 g Red Chili Powder
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder

Instructions

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, curd, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. 2. After resting, check the consistency of the batter. If it is too thick, adjust by adding a small amount of water to achieve a pouring consistency.
  3. 3. Fold in the chopped tomatoes, capsicum, onions, and coriander leaves into the batter. Mix gently to ensure even distribution of the vegetables.
  4. 4. Just before cooking, add the baking soda to the batter and mix lightly to activate it.
  5. 5. Heat an appe pan on medium heat and lightly grease each cavity with a few drops of oil.
  6. 6. Spoon the batter into the cavities of the appe pan, filling them to about three-fourths full.
  7. 7. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  8. 8. Flip each appe using a skewer or spoon, cover, and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until evenly cooked.
  9. 9. Remove the cooked appe uttapams from the pan and repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  10. 10. Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney for a delicious and healthy breakfast.
