Ingredients
- 1 kg Yellow Moong Dal
- 1 kg Rice
- 500 g Onion
- 250 g Carrot
- 50 g Black Pepper Powder
- medium Chilli Green Long
- 100 g Coriander Leaves
- 100 g Jeera
- 100 g Salt
- 1 liter Sunflower Oil
- 500 g Tomato - Hybrid
- 20 g Turmeric Powder
Instructions
- 1. Rinse the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water, then soak them together in water for 4-6 hours.
- 2. Drain the soaked dal and rice, and grind them into a smooth batter using a blender, adding a little water for consistency. The batter should be slightly thick.
- 3. Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix in turmeric powder, cumin seeds, salt, and black pepper powder. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- 4. Prepare the vegetable topping by combining chopped onion, tomato, green chili, coriander leaves, and grated carrot in a mixing bowl.
- 5. Heat a non-stick skillet or dosa tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
- 6. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it gently into a thick pancake. Sprinkle the vegetable mixture evenly over the batter.
- 7. Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for 2 minutes.
- 8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter and vegetable topping to make additional uttapams.
- 9. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar for a complete and satisfying meal.
