Ingredients

  • 500 Grms Bajra Atta Millets Atta 500 Grms
  • 500 g Capsicum Green
  • 1 piece Yellow Bell Pepper
  • 500 g Onion
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Lemon
  • 1 kg Bell Peppers
  • 200 ml Ghee
  • medium Chilli Green Long
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 100 g Jeera
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Dry roast the foxtail millet in a pan over medium heat until it turns aromatic, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
  2. 2. Heat ghee in a large pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Sauté for 1 minute.
  3. 3. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. 4. Stir in the diced bell peppers and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender but still crunchy.
  5. 5. Add the roasted millet, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the millet and vegetables evenly with the spices.
  6. 6. Pour in 2 cups of hot water and stir. Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for 10-12 minutes, or until the millet is cooked and water is absorbed.
  7. 7. Turn off the heat and let the upma rest for 5 minutes, covered.
  8. 8. Fluff the upma with a fork, add lemon juice and chopped coriander, and mix gently.
  9. 9. Serve warm as a wholesome breakfast or brunch.
