Ingredients

  • - Powder Oats
  • 500 g Suji
  • 200 g Dahi
  • 250g Green Chilli
  • 1 box Baking Soda
  • 100G Oleo
  • 250 g Carrot
  • 50 g Asafoetida Powder
  • 100 g Coriander Leaves
  • 100 g Curry Leaves
  • 100 g Salt
  • 20 g Turmeric Powder
  • 100 g Yellow Mustard Seeds

Instructions

  1. 1. Dry roast the oats in a pan for 2-3 minutes until fragrant, then grind them into a fine powder using a blender.
  2. 2. Mix the oats powder, semolina, yogurt, and salt in a bowl to form a smooth batter. Add a little yogurt if the batter feels too thick and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. 3. Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, and green chili. Sauté for a minute, then pour this tempering into the batter.
  4. 4. Stir in turmeric powder, grated carrots, and chopped coriander leaves into the batter. Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  5. 5. Just before steaming, add baking soda to the batter and mix gently. Grease idli molds with a little oil and pour the batter into each mold, filling them halfway.
  6. 6. Steam the idlis in a steamer or pressure cooker (without the whistle) for 10-12 minutes on medium heat until they are cooked and fluffy.
  7. 7. Remove the idlis from the molds carefully and serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
